Sorry, Folks– Cardi B Only Wants To Parent Her Child– Not Yours

The star fires back at Grammy’s backlash.

Since WAP first arrived on the scene last August, it’s received a lot of attention including an onslaught of backlash. Just when it felt like the borderline obsessive crusade against WAP had settled itself, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s wave-making Grammy’s performance has reignited the pushback.

When political commentator, Candace Owens, appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight, she argued that the song is "actively trying to make children aspire to things that are grotesque," later adding “I think parents should be terrified that this is the direction that our society is heading towards.”

It seems that Cardi B rarely shies away from anything, and that includes sharing her truth with fans on Twitter. So, in true Cardi fashion, she retweeted the video of Owens, adding “Yaaaayyyyyyy WE MADE FOX NEWS GUYS !!! Wap wap wap.”

This sparked a Twitter battle in a long war between Cardi and the anti-WAPpers. Owens claimed that Cardi is in a position “to empower young women” to which Cardi replied "My daughter doesn't need to listen to music to be empowered neither should your children."

She also tweeted "I don’t make music for kids I make music for adults. Parents are responsible on what their children listen too or see...I’m a very sexual person but not around my child just like every other parent should be," and went on to add "The only way to empower your kids is by talking to them, boost their confidence and making sure they get a good education.” So, to anyone thinking of putting headphones on your baby bump and blasting WAP, that’s not really what the artist intended. You may want to stick to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and stream WAP in a kid-free zone.
