Caity Baser: Unintentional Pop Icon

Witty, uplifting and unbelievably honest.

POSTED BY LIV STEVENS

Brighton based singer-songwriter Caity Baser burst on the scene after posting hilariously unserious and yet instantly catchy songs on her Tik Tok page. She has been releasing music for a few years, but became a viral sensation when she posted clip of her now hit song “Friendly Sex”.

She admits she “never really took TikTok seriously, I just got it to take the mick out of my friends’, but it ended up getting her a manager and a song which has racked up over 5 million streams on Spotify alone.

The incredible wit combined with complete openness is what makes Caity’s lyrics so relatable and catchy. She says “I love talking about things that have happened to me and I’ll never be metaphorical about it. I’m just like, listen, you’ve annoyed me.” Her most recent release “X&Y” depicts how you can sometimes look back at an ex and all you can think is WHY, filled with brutal digs and niche insults such as “you sleep in your socks” - which is weird, right?

After performing at Reading and Leeds festivals earlier this year, Caity is performing at London O2 Academy Islington on Thursday September 22nd and Manchester Academy on Friday 23rd. With an energy that can not be matched, I can not wait to see what else she has in store.
