The Bridal Craze Is Taking Off

Wedding fashion is no longer just for weddings.

I've recently seen a lot of discussion online about the sheer volume of dramatic weddings we've seen in film and TV recently — think Cathy's ballgown in Wuthering Heights, Emma's simple look in The Drama, and Cassie's flamboyance in Euphoria Season 3. This obsession has also crept into other forms of media, from Sabrina Carpenter's bridal bodysuit and veil at Coachella to Bad Bunny's wedding scene at the Super Bowl.

It fascinates me because a lot of these examples use weddings to show drama and intensity rather than anything soft and idealized. Cassie and Nate were Euphoria's ultimate hot mess couple of the season, and Sabrina ditched the veil while performing her jaunty breakup song Goodbye. The question I kept asking myself was: what does all this mean for mainstream fashion?

I love bridal fashion. I've had a Pinterest board for my future wedding dress for as long as I can remember. If the morally ambiguous brides of the silver screen can influence the dresses and dramatic styling choices of modern singers, then we're sure to see more white, lace, bows, and veil-like tulle popping up beyond the wedding aisle.

Honestly, I’m not complaining. There’s something so fun about bringing a little bit of bridal fantasy into everyday outfits — whether that's a lace top, a romantic white dress, or even a statement accessory that makes you feel like the main character. Personally, I’ll be scouring stores for a swimsuit that looks like Sabrina's lace ensemble.
