A Foodie In London

What to eat in a day when visiting England's capital.

POSTED BY SOPHIE CLARK

London is an underrated food haven, it's home to people of every culture and with that comes food from around the world. Most of the food on offer is fusion of some level, because British ingredients force innovation from any chef.

The Dusty Knuckle Bakery

For breakfast, The Dusty Knuckle Bakery is the place for you. In the morning they serve coffee and pastries that are out of this world, their croissants could rival the French. If you really can't get enough of the place, they serve pizza from 5 pm on Thursday through Sunday.

Beigel Bake

Lunch is more carbs, but you're on holiday so you may as well go all out. Beigel Bake has the best bagels in the whole of the UK. They are a tiny shop with queues out the door most days. It's worth the wait. The food is very New York-inspired with classic hearty food to keep you going until dinner.

Gate Cake Shop

If you stop for a snack, you have to stop at Golden Gate Cake Shop. They are a Cantonese bakery selling the most gram-worthy baked goods.

KOL

For Dinner, you would be remiss to not follow the Michelin guide. London has many restaurants with stars, but we want to recommend KOL. They are a Mexican soul restaurant that prides itself on its use of British ingredients. Understanding just how different Mexican and British ingredients are highlights how deeply impressive this is to do, and more so to do well. But they do it. Food aside, the restaurant is beautiful and warm, with fantastic service.

The Connaught

If you are inclined to finish the night with a drink then you are in luck. London is home to the fifth-best bar in the world, The Connaught. This bar, in the hotel of the same name, takes you to another world. The space is timeless, the service is impeccable, and the drinks are classic and new all at once.
