Billie Eilish's "Bellyache" Is Darkly Lit Pop Perfection
Billie Eilish is about to become your new favorite pop star. At only 15-years-old, Eilish came on the scene last year with her breakthrough track “Ocean Eyes,” which helped her build a prominent online presence, including over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Now, the California singer just dropped a new video for “Bellyache” that’s so good it hurts.
Her latest Miles & AJ-directed visual shows her stranded in the middle of a deserted highway. Upon first glance, the scene feels totally innocent as Eilish drags a little red wagon down the road containing what appears to be her personal belongings. Shortly after, we find out she’s loaded with garbage bags full of cash, and it becomes clear the song is about being on the run.
The video culminates with a quiet showdown amid the Joshua trees as Eilish finds herself face to face with a doughnut-gobbling police officer waving a baton.
“Bellyache” is a slice of darkly lit pop that is both dreamy and a little bit edgy all at the same time. Watch the full video above.
