Film Meets Fashion At The 2025 Venice Film Festival

A look at the best red carpet looks during this celebration of cinema.

POSTED BY MIA DEEMING

And that’s a wrap. The 82nd Venice Film Festival is over. Showcasing many highly anticipated films, the hype around this year’s festival has been all over our feeds. The festival’s lineup included Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt, Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia, Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machin, Sofia Coppola’s documentary Marc by Sofia and many more. In addition to keeping up with the festival to catch the first glimpses of these eagerly awaited films, the stunning outfits gracing the Venice red carpets are another reason to keep up to date online with the festival.

From fashionably chic gowns to sharp suits exuding sophistication, here are some of the best looks from the 2025 Venice Film Festival:

Greta Lee

Past Lives star Greta Lee brought it all to this year’s festival, where she wore many stunning outfits designed by Dior’s new Creative Director for women’s, men’s and couture collections, Jonathan Anderson. Whilst recently taking this title, only his men’s collections have been seen during Dior’s Men Summer 2026 during Paris Fashion Week, but his debut of womenswear is yet to be seen. So, Lee wearing Anderson’s Dior is almost like a preview of what is to come in the Dior Women's Wear future collections.

Her last look by Anderson for the House of Dynamite red-carpet premiere was the showstopper of all her looks. Lee wore a two-toned black and forest green dress with an organically structured bubble-hem bodice and a plunging neckline. A sash hanging on her lower waist acted like a mini skirt featuring a statement bow at the front. This was paired with black heels and platinum jewellery from Tiffany & Co.

A perfect standout red-carpet outfit moment and a great introduction to Anderson’s directorial womenswear role at Dior.

Luca Guadagnino

Director Luca Guadagnino also styled some of Jonathan Anderson’s work. A Guadagnino-Anderson partnership wasn’t something new; the two had worked together when Anderson was the costume designer for many of his films, such as Challengers and Queer. Anderson is the famous designer behind the infamous “I Told Ya” t-shirt from Challengers. For the red carpet of Guadagnino’s new film, After The Hunt (also featuring costumes designed by Anderson), he had his own “I Told Ya” t-shirt moment when he wore a grey t-shirt that stated, “No Dior, no Dietrich”. This is a famous nod to when Marlene Dietrich, demanded in 1950 that she would only work on Alfred Hitchcock’s film Stage Fright if Christian Dior designed her costumes for the film. The t-shirt is a statement about artists and artist relationships; perhaps this reflects the creative connection between Guadagnino and Anderson, and the future projects the two plan on undertaking together. Perhaps, no Anderson, no Guadagnino.

Emma Stone

Yorgos Lanthimos and his muse are back. After her second Oscar win as Bella Baxter in Lanthimos’ Poor Things last year, Stone is once again back on the screen in Lanthimos' next film, Bugonia. Whilst walking the carpet for Bugonia’s festival premiere, she dazzled in a stunning Louis Vuitton gown. The gown features stunning silver beading and a statement bubbled peplum. Stone's growing-out pixie cut was the finishing touch to this outfit. Though her short haircut was due to having to shave her head for her role in Bugonia, it added a chic element to her red-carpet look and elevated her gown.

Myha’la Herrold

While promoting the film Dead Man's Wire at the annual festival, Myha’la Herrold wore three stunning Miu Miu outfits that truly embodied Miu Miu’s style. But her red-carpet look stood out the most. She wore a custom embellished backless Miu Miu gown featuring stunning yellow butterscotch and ochre tones. This, paired with her natural hair, natural-looking makeup and simple black shoes, all worked exquisitely together and made an ultimately chic red-carpet look.

Colman Domingo

Actor Colman Domingo, who was also promoting his role in the film Dead Man’s Wire, wore a statement outfit that was the star of the red carpet.  Created by Alessandro Michele, Domingo wore a statement Valentino mandarin pankou jacket that featured stunning gold-leaf embellishment and statement shoulder fringe detailing. This was easily one of the most interesting menswear outfits of the whole festival, and this outfit wouldn’t be out of place at an event such as the MET Gala. The jacket he wore was really one of the most impressive statement pieces of the festival

Cate Blanchett

Whoever criticized outfit repeating was mistaken; it never goes out of style. Cate Blanchett just proved this at the premiere for La Grazia, where she wore a dress she had previously worn at the 2022 SAG Awards. Her recycled look was originally a plunging black gown designed by Armani Privé with a statement chunky bejewelled trim on the neckline. This just goes to prove the timeless nature of the design, as years later, it is still in fashion. Rewearing clothes is chic.
