Here's to the most stylish first day!

As the school year fast approaches, it becomes clear there are two types of people: those who stress about making the perfect outfit debut on the first day of school, and those who couldn’t care less. If you’re reading this, you’re most likely stressing about the fashion for your big moment (because everyone is totally paying attention to you…sarcasm intended).

Still, looking nice as you’re plunged into a new environment certainly has its perks. Apart from giving a clear vision of who you are to your new classmates, knowing that you’re wearing something you love and look good in will be a great confidence boost. If you want to add a little extra fashion, consider some of these Fall 2024 trends for your back-to-school look below!

1. Baggy Fits (Specifically in denim)

The oversized look comes from street style more generally and has been exceedingly popular on the runways the past few seasons with oversized bags, blazers, and shirts being worn by models. Make the jump to this trend by embracing a great staple for school; denim, and dash around your campus in a pair of oversized jeans.

2. Country-core

Don’t say the cowboy boot trend didn’t warn you that country-core of all kinds was about to take over the fashion world. For fall 2024, runways from Paco Rabanne to Burberry embraced the Little House on the Prarie look of plaids, long skirts, and checkered coats. The items themselves might not be a surprise for the fall, but the embrace of country styling was a bit unexpected. Pull off this look for school and you’ll be the trendiest fashionista on the block!

3. Boho, again

For the past few seasons, it’s been a boho world and we’re all just living in it. This fashion fad isn’t dying any time soon, and French brand Chloe just gave it a major boost as the style was given a modern look at the brand’s F/W 2024 show. It hasn’t just been Chloe embracing the modern twists to a more bohemian style. Louis Vuitton, Isabel Marant, and Etro have also been playing with fringe, loose fabrics, and plenty of crochet pieces. If you want to look cool, but not like you’re trying, go run and get a fringe blouse and wedges to give the teachers PTSD from 2013 fashion.

4. Preppy as can be

Miu Miu and Tommy Hilfiger brought on a resurgence of preppy looks just in time for the new school year. While the looks aren’t giving Gossip Girl, the skirts, loafers and rich color palette are sure to put you in the good graces of clique-y preps at lunch. And private schoolers? Use this as a case for elevating the uniform!

5. Coquette-core world

Bows and ribbons have hit the mainstream fashion world by storm and inched into the Gen Z fashion stratosphere. Bow accessories may have slid out of view for summer, but Simone Rocha certainly hasn’t given them up and neither has Prada, Chanel, or Sandy Liang when it comes to fall fashion. If you’re a girly girl or just want to find stylish wear to keep your hair out of your face, a bow has never been cuter!
