How Famous Art Pieces Have Influenced My Style
Yes, I’m talking about The Kiss.
Is it just me, or has The Kiss by Gustav Klimt been making waves among Gen Z lately? I’ve seen it on keyrings and bookmarks, Pinterest recreations with movie characters, and countless references to it on TikTok and Substack.
I’d go as far as to say that if I showed a random Gen Z TikToker or Substacker the color palette of yellows, golds, blacks, and greens, they could probably guess which art piece I was hinting at. So when I happened to thrift a yellow spotty top, I naturally wanted to create an outfit inspired by the painting.
I wore my yellow spotty top with a black waistcoat and green corduroy trousers. For such a wacky outfit, I actually felt really refined because I knew the look was my own special reference.
I definitely want to try more outfits inspired by famous art pieces. Van Gogh’s The Starry Night is another must. I’m envisioning myself twirling around a jazz bar in a navy dress with glittering gold jewelry.
