A.P.C. & JW Anderson's Beuys-Inspired Collection
Fashion meets Activism.
A new collaboration between A.P.C. and JW Anderson is set to launch on October 12, inspired by the legendary performance artist Joseph Beuys. The collection draws from Beuys’s I Like America and America Likes Me, a powerful statement against the Vietnam War that involved him living with a coyote in a New York gallery for three days.
The collection reflects the artistic and political spirit of Beuys, using elements from his performance such as the rough wool texture of a duffle coat that evokes felt, his signature material, and graphic details that reference his artistic style on T-shirts and within some garment interiors.
The collection also showcases two distinct aesthetics: a fitted rocker style with black denim, a biker jacket and hand-painted cotton knits, and a relaxed hippie style with loose shapes, multicolored knitwear and distressed denim made using eco-friendly laser technology.
The collection emphasizes quality and attention to detail, featuring the finest American jersey for T-shirts, hand-knitted sweaters, a historic duffle coat with rope trim and an integrated whistle, a Cornishware teapot and a rugged canvas tote bag with an oversized zipper closure.
