Alexandra Moura Shows A/W 21 Collection Subversion
The collection was showcased at Milan Fashion Week.
“Pause, reverse, subvert.”
Alexandra Moura’s latest collection, shown at Milan Fashion Week, plays on the idea of creating a garment based on deconstructive actions.
The collection Subversion references Alexandra’s memories of the 90s when she started her fashion design studies. “The rebellion of this decade deconstructs the garments. Turning them upside down, inside out, hems, seams and overlock purposely shown.” With this collection the details take the spotlight – every inch of the garment is purposely crafted.
With bright red, blue, and pink tones sitting amongst heavier black looks, the collection surprised you just when you think you understand it. Bright, acid colors contrast the paler hues, creating an interesting palette. Print is also featured, however it takes a back seat and the intricate cuts of the garments do all the talking.
“Alexandra’s plasticity and her sketchbooks with collages, tape, drawings and notes merge in a print that gives life and intrigues subversion. This collection is based around construction and deconstruction exercises. “
