Look no further.

News of the climate crisis has become unavoidable.

Zero Waste Week reports that over 120 billion units of packaging are created each year by the global cosmetics industry. With Greta Thunberg’s School Strike for Climate inspiring millions around the world to protest for the future of our planet, there’s no question to why lots of us are turning to sustainable products for our everyday lives.

With this in mind, we’ve made a list of sustainable beauty brands to suit anyone on your Christmas shopping list this year,

Fat and the Moon

Fat and the Moon founder Rachel Budde set out to create a company that provides natural products to rival their chemical-laced alternatives. Their products are created through a mix of fat and herbs, under the careful influence of the moon. Fat and the Moon offer a range of products, including first aid, haircare, mother and baby products, and their popular toiletries. Using reusable containers and pledging to keep unnecessary packaging at a minimum, Fat and the Moon offer perfect eco-friendly alternatives to mainstream beauty-buys this Christmas.

Lush

Boasting an impressive environmental policy, Lush has long been conscious of its ecological impact. To date, they offer a full Vegan range, their pots and bottles are made from BPA-Free 100% recycled plastic, and they avoid using 450,000 litres of water per year by choosing to sell shampoo bars. So picking up that bath bomb set for your mom or that grooming kit for your brother will have the added bonus of being environmentally friendly. Plus, they offer a selection of reusable alternatives to traditional, often wasteful wrapping paper. It’s a win-win!

While working in research and development for sustainable materials, Aether Beauty founder Tiila Abbitt discovered that in the USA, there are only 11 banned chemicals in color cosmetics, while in the European Union, there are over 1300. This led her to create Aether Beauty, pledging to substitute for more sustainable ingredients when possible (the company will not release a product until this has been done).
