YITTY by Lizzo Launches New Shapewear Line Inclusive Of All Genders
It’s about damn time that gender-affirming shapewear became a focus
YITTY, pop sensation Lizzo’s own shapewear brand, has announced a new line of shapewear coming in Summer 2023. YOUR SKIN will bring shapewear created with all gender identities in mind. In the promotional material on Instagram, YITTY say that they “believe in radical self-love for people of all gender identities—including the trans, non-binary, gender-fluid and gender non-conforming communities.” They also further specify that these communities have been “chronically underserved.”
Shapewear generally refers to bras, panties, swimwear, and bodysuits that enhance the silhouette of the wearer. With collections such as ‘Mesh Me,’ ‘Headliner,’ and ‘Nearly Naked’ there is a huge variety of patterns, garments, and styles when it comes to YITTY’s shapewear range. However, YOUR SKIN includes a tucking thong and a binder top, bringing gender-inclusive shapewear that is fit for purpose into the mainstream.
At present, gender-inclusive shapewear is available. However, there are adverse effects for trans-people if they’re poor quality or unfit for purpose. However, the brand, like its founder, is a beacon for body positivity and encourages the celebration of all bodies through its shapewear. The addition of YOUR SKIN to the YITTY collection means that a minority have the spotlight shone on them, and the inclusive and positive attitude of the brand is extended further.
