Y/Project Unveils Fall/Winter 21 Collection
The oversized and fluid designs were shot and recorded in an empty warehouse.
If the January blues are getting to you allow the new F/W 21 collection from Y/Project to cheer you up. With oversized cuts and fluid fabric, the collection feels like a modern take on ‘what you expect clothes to look like’. Trousers and shirts are twisted, scarves engulf models – nothing is ordinary.
Y/Project are known for their experimentation with proportion and this is one again delivered perfectly. Coats and suits appear to be draped on the models, reinterpreting the idea of formalwear. Grey, beige and black tones dominate the show, however an unexpected pop of color (in the forms of neon pink and pastel blue) keeps the watcher engaged.
Director Gregoire Dyer, recorded the show in an empty warehouse rather than a traditional runway – allowing the clothes to be the main focus. Models follow arrow paths taped to the floor whilst the music transitions from opera to electronic beats. The collection also marks the merger of Y/Project’s men’s and women’s lines coming together to form one collection. This will be presented at Paris Men’s Fashion Week for the foreseeable future.
