Vetements Unveils 165 Look Collection for FW21
An armageddon nod to the '90's and we are here for it.
Another show to take Paris Fashion Week by storm on the digital screens was Vetement FW21, who’s political armageddon storyboard left us hankering for more.
The staggering 165-look collection gave strong nods to the cult 90’s film the Matrix, with exaggerated leather trenches paired with Mohawks and space-buns for women and menswear unison.
Never to make a demure entrance into the next fashion season, creative director Guram Gvasalia made political and ethical statements in the shape of baggy jeans and slogan tees adorned with “I like long walks and sex before marriage” and “Think before it's legal”…we’ll let you ponder those.
The collection, split into 3 different backdrops, told a story of a hell-fire armageddon, a calm rainbow oasis, and exiting with a cloudy blue sky. Is Gvasalia trying to tell us something?
Oversized and over-structured doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, with box-cut tailoring, patent snake print shoes, and shirts, and slicked-back hair with slender muted sunglasses to keep your mind firmly in the ’90s.
We mean…you had us at The Matrix.
