Y-3 Drops New Collection Inspired by Artisan Codes of Sport
The latest addition to the long term partnership of Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto.
Y-3, the ongoing collaborative project between Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto, is exploring the concept of “Artisan Codes of Sport” in their Spring/Summer 2023 collection.
While the brands have worked together for two decades, this is their first campaign set in Japan, Yohji Yamamoto’s home country. The collection is modeled in the streets of Tokyo, and footwear makes use of the Japanese technique of Sashiko stitching. The Y-3 Superstar, the Y-3 Hicho, the Y-3 Marathon TR, and the Y-3 Gazelle all feature intentional loose threads.
The collection also draws on Adidas’ athletic heritage, with college-inspired letterman jackets as a highlight of the drop. They’re paired with track pants, cargo pants, and t-shirts, creating a casual but cool aesthetic. The Y-3 logo is the final touch, the artisan brushstrokes subverting traditional sporting codes.
The SS2023 collection is available now on Adidas’ website, as well as in Y-3 stores and through select global retailers.
