Wood Wood Meets Moomin For Save The Children

The newest charitable collection.

POSTED BY HANNAH MASSEY

Wood Wood has joined together with Moomin in a unique collection to benefit children in need for the Save the Children foundation.

Known for its eccentric cartoons, the wonderful universe of Moomin has helped to create a capsule collection with Danish, youth culture brand, Wood Wood. The collection features the classic Moomin characters, designed by Finnish-Swedish writer and artist, Tove Jansson, who are a large family of roundish trolls with large snouts who live an idyllic life in Moominvalley.

In this unique collection, the three partners have created a small range of products for children and adults. All proceeds from the sales of the heart-warming collection will benefit the work of Save the Children, a charity  protecting children worldwide from situations such as war. The pieces will also be environmentally friendly and made from sustainable, organic cotton.

Throughout the collaboration, the Moomin characters interact with Wood Woods’s Double A logo, such as; Moomintroll, Snork Maiden and Little My who join in the cause by apprearing in the collection and can be seen drifting on a cloud, parachute jumping with an umbrella and kicking a Double A patch around to represent the playfulness of this unique collection.

The decision to collaborate for Save the Children stemmed from both Wood Wood and Moomin sharing similar values. Sophia Jansson, niece to Tove Jansson and Artistic Director at Oy Moomin Characters, Ltd. says:

“Tove Jansson’s Moomin stories often centre around those who need comfort and attention, and on how important it is that they are heard and seen, and ultimately treated nicely. Wood Wood shares those values, and I am so thankful they wished to include Moomin in their campaign.”

The capsule consists of two children’s T-shirts, a long-sleeved T-shirt as well as an adult unisex T-shirt and hoodie, all in a simple grey melange and white with eye-catching, statement red Moomin Characters. The simplicity of the design captures the essence of Wood Wood but by inclusion of the Moomin characters, adds a playful twist for anyone regardless of age or gender.
