What Everyone Needs To Know About Lizzo In 2019

She’s like your cool big sister with more attitude and extra sass.

Her MTV Video Music Awards Performance stole the show. She’s said herself, she is 100% that bitch. 2019 has been Lizzo’s biggest year yet, and she’s only just getting started.

The American singer and rapper, becoming known as the new Queen of curves (step aside Kim K), and influential advocator for body positivity, Melissa Viviane Jefferson is everything a girl needs to remind herself who’s boss. Born in Detroit and raised in Houston, the artist started out in a rap group when she was a teen, before taking the solo step to create music on her own. Kickstarting her career in the industry, she made her debut by releasing two studio albums over two years — Lizzobangers (2013) and Big Grrrl Small World (2015). After signing to Atlantic Records in 2016, Lizzo later released Coconut Oil that same year.

Lizzo’s ‘Cuz I Love You’ album launched earlier this year, succeeding in attracting the star the mainstream success she deserves. Her refreshing, carefree, badass attitudes have enlightened the lives of many women who don’t fit into the gaunt beauty ideals of modern standards. “It’s so hard trying to love yourself in a world that doesn’t love you back.. you deserve to feel good as hell.” She hollers during her liberating four minutes of VMA’s performance, which was a mash-up of ‘Truth Hurts’ and ‘God As Hell’.  After her giant ass balloon dominated the stage, we’re sure that this stands out the act was one to remember. We can’t wait to see what other money moves Lizzo will be making in 2019.
