Wedding Season Fashion, But Make It Stress-Free
A simple formula for every wedding invite.
The wedding season is upon us, and while for some it’s a joyful time to celebrate love, for others it’s yet another reason to stress over what to wear. I know that feeling: you want to look fancy, but still feel comfortable. And, of course, you don’t want to overspend on outfits you’ll hardly ever wear again. If this feels relatable, I know just the right tips that will make your future events more pleasant.

Check the dress code and the venue
Many couples now ask their guests to dress within a certain style or a color palette, and I actually think this makes things easier: at least you’ll know what to look for while shopping. If there is a dress code at your upcoming event, make sure to follow it. This certainly isn’t the place to break the rules and show up in a rebellious red dress when your friends asked for pastel shades.
If there isn’t a dress code to follow, it’s still important to take the venue into account. A garden wedding and a formal indoor reception call for completely different outfits. Especially when it comes to picking the right shoes.
Choose the right colors
Things get trickier when there isn’t a specific theme to follow. The most important rule here is to never wear white. If you’re not the bride, obviously. In any other case, you don’t want to steal the thunder, do you? It’s also best to avoid the color of the bridesmaids' dresses, so there’s no confusion. Apart from that, the choice is all yours. Still, if you want to play it smart, I’d recommend leaning toward lighter, more muted tones. That bright red dress might feel limiting for future events. A soft pink or mint dress, on the other hand, can be easily styled in different ways, giving you multiple outfits from one piece.
And while we’re on the subject, don’t be afraid to be an “outfit repeater” even for occasions like this. You can absolutely wear the same dress more than once. You just need to switch the styling. Different shoes, layers, and accessories will transform the look. The same goes for your makeup and hairstyle—they make a big difference as well.

Opt for comfort
There’s a common misconception that black-tie events require wearing uncomfortable ensembles. Sure, you can’t head to a wedding in sneakers and a hoodie, but who said comfort and style can’t go hand in hand? Choose more relaxed silhouettes so you won’t have to worry about how not to overeat. Even high heels aren’t mandatory. You can always go for lower heels, or even flats, like Mary Janes, mules, or loafers. You’ll look just as sophisticated but will actually enjoy your day.
Have spare pieces
If you do want to wear your favorite pair of high heels, make sure to grab some trusted flats with you. Just in case the dancefloor gets a little too active. And, of course, don’t forget bringing a blazer or a jacket as well. Yes, even in the middle of July. You never know how the weather might change in the evening, and you’ll be glad to have something for that summer chill.
Go for a matching set
Instead of getting one expensive dress and leaving it to sit in your wardrobe after the big day, why not go for a matching set instead? It will look no less refined, but you’ll be able to wear the pieces separately for other occasions by mixing and matching with what you already own. It’s also a great option if you don’t feel too comfortable in dresses, cause a set with tailored trousers will work just as well.
