With the little help of… Donald Trump.

Yes, you heard it right. Wallis Bird, an acclaimed Irish musician, with six records to her name and a lucky seventh album on its way, owes her just-released song to the infamous ex-president of the USA, Donald Trump. While initially, it may be hard to imagine the connection between Trump and Wallis’s soothing music, the track’s title, ‘Power Of A Word’, slowly begins to unfold this mystery.

‘It was written around about the time that Trump got voted out, thankfully, because he had the best words,’ notes Wallis and she adds that although she can’t stand the ex-president as the person, she wanted to dig deeper.  ‘I hate even talking about the man, but it was a really big turning point and a great release in the world. The song highlights the power that words can have, that they can be useful and dangerous.’

Moved and excited about this historical moment that we all remember so well, Wallis, a two-times winner of two Meteor Awards, Ireland’s annual music prize, turned her feelings into a song and wrote ‘Power Of A Word’ in only three hours. ‘It was one of those moments when it just happens. It clicks,’ she shares.

‘Power Of A Word’ by Wallis Bird reveals the style of her upcoming seventh album, ‘HANDS’, also known as ‘NINE AND A HALF SONGS FOR NINE AND A HALF FINGERS’, confronting themes of trust, alcohol abuse, stagnation, self-censorship, and self-improvement, yet interlaced with joy and empathy. The album will be released on May 27th.
