When fashion and art shine.

POSTED BY HANEEN WÓJCIK

When creativity and sustainability meet for a date at the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF),  the result is a charitable collaboration between big names like Virgil Abloh, Naomi Campbell, Nick Knight, Peter Saville and The Little Sun Foundation. The Enlightment Project is curated by Machine-A’s Stavros Karelis and London based curator Sami Janjer; that launched off CIFF SS19. The big names have created unique art installations to shed the light on the powerful beauty of The Little Sun Project.

For those who stalk Abloh’s Instagram, he hinted at the Enlightment Project in his Insta Story and urged followers to look into The Little Sun Foundation. The foundation, founded in 2012 by artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer Frederik Ottensen, aims to provide 1.1 billion people who have no access to energy solar energy. The project hones in on the Sub-Saharan African population who have no shortage of sun, yet no tools to extract its energy.

Abloh, an architect and designer, has created limited edition posters and products to raise awareness for the project. While Campbell has teamed up with Saville in creating 1000 Woolrich blankets adorned in her favorite quotes and Saville Studio designs. While Knight, renowned image-maker, will be unveiling a short film celebrating the Enlightment Project.

The Enlightenment project will be showcasing between August 8th and August 10th. But don’t stress if you can not make it to CIFF, we have some shots of the installations for you!

This isn’t the first time Abloh has dabbled in Charity. Check out his Dondi White Collection
