Viktor’s Unconventional Path

Viktor’s path to cinematography was anything but conventional. Raised in Falun, a small Swedish town surrounded by nature, he first discovered filmmaking through snowboarding. What began as a way to capture his friends’ tricks on camera soon evolved into a lifelong career. Armed with a simple VHS camera, Viktor started exploring the beauty of movement, light, and space, capturing the energy of outdoor sports. This raw, unrefined approach laid the foundation for his career, teaching him invaluable lessons about rhythm, timing, and the nuances of natural light, skills he continues to carry with him today.

These formative years filming snowboarding taught Viktor to work with unpredictable environments, adapting to nature’s elements and understanding how light could dramatically shift the tone of a scene. It’s a curiosity that still drives his work. Whether shooting on a mountain peak at sunset or in an urban cityscape at night, Viktor’s films reflect a deep connection to the environment, where light becomes more than just a technical element, it’s a storytelling tool.

A Cinematographer’s Evolution

After high school, Viktor moved to Transition, a Swedish snowboard magazine, where his work started to gain attention in the international snowboard film community. Collaborating with Pirates, an Austrian production company, he honed his skills across various film formats, from DV to 16mm, and later, RED cameras.

However, the true turning point in Viktor's career came when he transitioned from extreme sports films to commercial cinematography. Returning to Stockholm, he shifted from editing to shooting, discovering a natural affinity for the Director of Photography (DOP) role. His style, defined by emotional sensitivity and a keen eye for light and movement, soon attracted the attention of global brands. Before long, Viktor was working with some of the most recognized names in the industry.
