Trying To Get Pregnant? 4 Ways To Conceive

Spice up your relationship in the bedroom.

POSTED BY ANNA GRAHAM

If you’re planning on having a baby, you’re probably trying to spice up your relationship in the bedroom. Sex is a wonderfully complex thing, that can be committed in many different ways. To conceive, you could try doing what you always do, but without the safe sex protection. You might also try to eat some foods that are supposedly meant to help egg and sperm meet in some ancient magical ritual. However, if you’re having issues getting pregnant, there are some tried and trusted ways you can find out what could be wrong and select a solution. For example, you can check if you are producing enough eggs to be fertilized with an anti-mullerian hormone test at home. Read on to learn more about other ways to figure out what could be wrong.

Know your cycle

Be honest, do you know much about your menstrual patterns? This is the cycle that produces hormones and releases an egg during the ovulation period. This is the best time to get pregnant as the egg will not last forever in your uterus. However, every woman’s cycle is different. It should occur about every 28 days or so. Your cervical mucus will thin during this period and it will also become more fluid and slippery. This is in aid for you getting pregnant. If you are not sure when your cycle is occurring, you should try to keep track of it on your calendar.

Having trouble?

If you find that your egg and his sperm can’t find each other in your body, then you should not give up hope. There is one particular option called an IVF procedure whereby an egg is extracted from your body and his sperm is taken from him, to fertilize the egg in lab conditions. Once the egg has been fertilized, it is then transported back to the female’s uterus. This will be just like getting pregnant the natural way, in that your body will begin to change after it notices that an egg and sperm have merged. It's for couples that are having trouble getting pregnant naturally due to the cervical mucus being too thick, the sperm not managing to swim up all the way or any other reason.

Stay in bed

After having intercourse, you should try and stay in bed. It might be natural to get up and go to the bathroom to pee, but don’t do this. Hold onto it for the next 10-15 minutes. This is to aid the sperm in swimming up to the egg. If you urinate during the few minutes right after intercourse, your cervix will not have a chance of letting in any of his sperm. You don’t need to keep your legs up either. Gravity will not help in you getting pregnant, but it may help to keep your pelvis steady. The key is to just relax and have intercourse where you can fall asleep straight after.

Quality not quantity

Did you know sperm can survive in your body for up to 5 days? You don’t have to have intercourse every single day when trying to conceive. You should pace yourselves and seek quality time together, not purely quantity.

If you’re trying to get pregnant, try doing some of these things. Some of them are more effective than others but they all have their place in your journey toward becoming fertilized.
