Top Spring/Summer Jewelry and Accessory Trends

Be on point for Spring 2022.

POSTED BY ANNA GRAHAM

Top designers from across the globe are already getting ready for New York Fashion Week’s (NYFW’s) Spring 2022 show, which will feature designs to watch out for in 2023. However, if you want to be on point for Spring 2022, then you will have to backtrack to September 2021, when NYFW gave us a hint of the looks the who’s who will be wearing this season. In case you missed it, here is a recap of the jewelry and trends that shone at this iconic fashion event, as well as at the rest of the Big Four fashion weeks (Paris, Milan, and London).

Pearls Abound

Pearls are a classic item for those into sophisticated looks but this season, they will be gracing casual looks as much as elegant ones. Look out for this delicate material in XL dangling statement earrings, chokers, belts, and stacked bracelets.

Jazz up a simple blazer with a chained gold and pearl brooch, or wear a pearl choker in your hair. Take a note from Charlize Theron, who wore a Tiffany diamond bracelet in the parting of her hair for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. This season, it’s all about getting creative with jewelry and wearing fine jewelry as hair accessories.

Bursts of Color

Spring has always been the season to celebrate color but this year, designers are going all-out, with models sporting contrasting and complementary statement pieces in a range of materials—including resin, plastic, and glass. Imagine wearing various rings in colors like lime and emerald green, aqua blue, and baby pink, all on the same hand.

Color is also dominating engagement ring designs, with many couples opting for colored gemstones in traditional designs such as princess, emerald, and halo cuts. Color is also present in the choice of metal. Millennial and Gen-Z brides are favoring rings in various hues of gold, with engagement rings often boasting stackable features such as infinity bands, curved bands, and three-stone designs. Color is everywhere, including statement earrings, bangles, and chokers. To get this look right, wear various items at once, and don’t worry if the colors clash—they are meant to!

Bags for All Occasions

The good news for those who love sporting bags of all sizes and styles is that you will have a wide range of ‘it’ styles to choose from.

On the one hand, big bags (think leather bucket bags), boho-chic crochet bags, and oversized fabric bags (in canvas, linen, and cotton) will be all the rage. Small clutch bags will also be seen at special events, though, as can be seen in Cult Gaia’s cute bauble clutch or Fendi’s asymmetric Fendi First Small bags (which come in a fantastic range of colors ranging from bright orange to classic camel).

Wide Waist Belts

One of the best things about wide belts is their ability to dress up even a simple monochrome look. There are many ways you can wear this accessory, one of the most popular of which is over fine cardigans, blazer dresses, or body-hugging dresses. When shopping for a belt, you will find that there are many styles to select from, ranging from simple belts to those with ties, knots, buckles, and chains. Some are totally asymmetrical, rising up one side of the body and remaining simple and serious on the other.

Spring is here and there are so many accessories and jewelry items to get your hands on. Pearls and colorful enamel and gem jewelry will feature strongly in many top collections this season. So, too, will large bags, clutches, and attention-grabbing, wide-waisted belts.
