The Star-Studded Cast Set To Appear In The Beatles Biopic
The return of Beatlemania.
Sony Pictures dropped a film announcement so major that it left many questioning if it was an elaborate April Fool’s prank. But it’s no joke — the main cast of Sam Mendes’ The Beatles biopic will feature four of Hollywood’s rising stars and film-fan favorites.
Paul Mescal will take on the role of Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will star as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn will play George Harrison. These up-and-coming male actors have already made their mark in the acting industry, landing leading roles in hit films and TV shows like Gladiator II, Babygirl, Stranger Things, and Saltburn. They're now scheduled to bring the iconic pop-rock band to life on the big screen in April 2028.
Biopics have become an increasingly popular film genre, as new generations seek to immerse themselves in the fascinating lives of famous figures and the world’s most legendary artists. Following the success of music biopics like Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), Rocketman (2019), and Elvis (2022), a film depicting the life of The Beatles has been highly anticipated.
Formed in 1960 in Liverpool, The Beatles skyrocketed to fame, especially in the UK and US, after finding their distinctive sound. Releasing hit after hit, they inspired a devoted global fandom, made up of teenage girls in particular, whose wild reactions and hysteria were so extreme that it termed a new word — Beatlemania. With the rise of fangirls in pop culture and the likelihood of The Beatles' music returning to the charts in 2028, expect a whole new generation of Beatlemania.
Sam Mendes, the director behind the upcoming project, plans to make not one, but four films, with one dedicated to each band member. This creative approach will allow for detailed portrayals of the same story told from four different perspectives of life in the spotlight.
