The UK’s New Black Film Collective Will Host An Inaugural Convention
TNBFC convention will showcase Black film and TV out of the UK.
The New Black Film Collective (TNBFC) is a network of film exhibitors, educators and programmers of Black representation on screen, based in the UK. The collective began in 2008 as a training program supported by Skillset, Film London and the London Development Agency.
Now, the collective hosts film screenings, offers consultancy, handles public relations and marketing campaigns, aids distribution, and provides education to those engaging in African, Caribbean, and diasporic film. The collective has worked with titles such as Dear White People, Queen & Slim, and Sorry To Bother You.
TNBFC will hold their first ever convention, titled TNB XPO, on March 30 at the Picturehouse Central in London, and will be accessible online March 31. Managing director of the collective, Priscilla Igwe, “As an influential community with a rich culture that is popular throughout the world, we must create and own our content within the creative industries. I came up with TNB XPO as a brand new space to achieve just that.”
