The prequel to The Hunger Games franchise was confirmed in late April of 2020, which is to be directed by Francis Lawrence. According to Deadline, Lionsgate’s chairman Joe Drake just announced that the movie will begin production in early 2022, stating that preproduction is: “moving along really, really well.”
This could mean that the movie could be released in early 2023 or late 2024.

The film is set to be based on Suzanne Collins’ upcoming novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which features 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow as the main protagonist. Fans of The Hunger Games will be more than familiar with the surname of Collins’ new hero, whilst some predict an ancestral connection between Coriolanus Snow and The Hunger Games’ villain President Snow, specific details and confirmation remain hazy.

In this adventure however, Snow is chosen to mentor a girl from District 12 for the Tenth annual Hunger Games.

Any details regarding casting are yet to be revealed, stay tuned for more details on the next installment of the iconic dystopian franchise soon.
