Before ingesting any other liquids or foods, squeeze half of a lemon into warm water. From an Ayurvedic perspective, when reaching the tongue, warm liquids and food fire up the digestive system. In correlation, cold substances stop digestion dead in its’ tracks. Therefore, ensure the water is warm to prepare your digestive system for any oncoming food and liquids.

Does lemon water burn fat? To put it simply, yes it can. Lemon water improves the overall procedure of digestion. Similar to this, lemon juices mimic the digestive fluids in your saliva and stomach. Lemon water also prompts the liver to produce bile, amplifying digestion whilst igniting toxin-fighting within the body.

Balancing pH levels, lemon juice tends to  reduce indigestion and stomach/tract aches throughout the day, due to its’ ability of acting as an alkaline once processed in the body. Once completely metabolised by our digestive system, the citric acids fail to produce acidity. The citric acid alkalises in the blood stream, and results in a balance of the overall pH levels.

Daily, we ingest a substantial amount of sugars and grains which cause high levels of acidity. An influx in eating foods with high amounts of these can lead to arthritis/inflammation for many people due to high pH levels within the joints. A balance of the pH levels additionally balances the uric acid in joints; relieving inflammation and pain in the joints such as arthritis and tendonitis. Sufferers of these should avoid mass consumption of sugary foods and opt for citrus fruits. Finally, the lemon juices in water can boost energy and improve your overall morale, due to the positive reactions produced from the process within your stomach.
