Last week Studio Ghibli delighted fans by sharing early images of the new theme park Ghibli Park. These early images depict areas from the first stage of construction named “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse”, “Dondoko Forest” and “Hill of Youth” which are all set to open in November of 2022. The new website also teases two other attractions “Valley of Witches” and “Mononoke Village” that are due to open in 2023.

The theme park, which is being built in Aichi Park in Japan, differs from other large parks like Disneyland and Universal Studios as it does not feature rides or traditional attractions but is closer to a nature park where you are encouraged to “Take a stroll, feel the wind, and discover the wonders.”  “Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse” features various artifacts and memorabilia from the films including My Neighbour Totoro’s famous Cat Bus and some of the materials used in the making of the films. Whereas the other two attractions serve to immerse you within the world of Studio Ghibli as “On the Hill of Youth’ takes you to the antique shop from Whisper of the Heart and “Dondoko Forest” surrounds you with the world of My Neighbour Totoro and includes a replica of the house that Satsuki and Mei move into in the film.
