Steffi Brungs On Fighting Doubt, Finding Strength & Falling In Love On Screen
From sidelines to spotlights.
As Germany’s youngest female sports show host, she learned fast that talent didn’t automatically silence doubt. “I could have known everything,” she says, “but people would still believe I just had this job ‘cause I’m a young, pretty woman.” Instead of folding, she doubled down. That fight for credibility hardened her edge and shaped the poise she carries today, whether she’s fielding interviews or live on set.
When Love Is Blind: Germany premiered, viewers got more than a dating show—they got a masterclass in partnership. Co-hosting with her husband, Chris, blurred the line between work and romance in the best way. “It showed us we’re a real team,” she says. “No competition, no envy. We love learning from each other.” Together, they radiate something rare in TV love: genuine stability wrapped in playfulness.
Five years after surviving cervical cancer, Brungs shared her story publicly—not for sympathy, but solidarity. “A friend called me crying with the same diagnosis,” she recalls. “She was so afraid. That reminded me of myself back then, when I had no one to ask.” Her openness turned pain into purpose. Through it all, Chris’s quiet strength grounded her. “He never treated me like a patient. He never once made me feel less strong or less sexy.”
For Brungs, fitness stopped being punishment and became permission. “Before, sports were something that had to be done. Now it’s something I want to do—for my health, for feeling connected to my body.” These days, she’s into tennis, weights, swimming, and reformer Pilates—whatever keeps her tuned in, not burnt out.
With nearly 120K followers and a foot in both journalism and entertainment, Brungs plays the fame game her way. “You never have to make anything public unless you truly want to,” she says. “Waiting to share my diagnosis was an act of self-care.” She still shows her audience the glamour and grit, but keeps her real life grounded. The next chapter? She’s not in a rush. “There’s so much happening right now,” she smiles. “I want to fully enjoy the moment.”
