St Vincent May Reference Ex Cara Delevingne In Upcoming Album
Who wouldn't write a love song about Cara?
Celeb relationships aren't easy. When musician St Vincent was thrust into the limelight during her 18-month relationship with Cara Delevingne, she experienced first-hand the difficulty and scrutiny that comes with dating such a high-profile superstar. In a new Guardian interview, she touches on what it was like for someone she loved to be “hounded, hassled, hacked–all of that stuff” due to her “unenviable” level of fame.
When St Vincent released a new single called 'New York' in June, speculation arose as to whether the track was in fact a love song for Delevingne. Now with a brand-new album on the way, people are keen to know if there might be any more potential references to her ex-girlfriend.
“I can’t help but be living and also taking notes on what’s going on, always trying to figure out how to put that into a song. And that does not mean there’s literal truth in every lyric on the way. Of course not. But I can only write about my life, and that – dating Cara – was a big part of my life. I wouldn’t take it off-limits, just because my songs might get extra scrutiny. People would read into them what they would, and you know what? Whatever they thought they found there would be absolutely right. And at the same time it would be absolutely wrong.”
