Three must-style pieces for the season ahead.

I may be getting ahead of myself, but I can slowly feel spring approaching—and with it, the shedding of winter's heaviness. Beyond florals for spring (groundbreaking), I have a few must-style items for the season ahead.

Spring is that sort-of-in-between season: too warm for our fuzzy, insulated winter coats, but rarely warm enough to ditch a jacket altogether. That’s exactly why quilted jackets have become my go-to later this season. Lightweight but still cozy, they strike the perfect balance between function and style. I’m especially drawn to quilted pieces in unexpected colors and finishes—soft pastels, contrast stitching, glossy metallics.

Then there are maxi checkered skirts, which I can't get enough of. Big, bold patterns in airy fabrics make these skirts the perfect statement piece for any outfit. They’re cute, stylish, and—most importantly for days out—practical. Style a maxi with a neutral tank top or sweater, and let the skirt do all the talking.

And finally, ballet flats—shoes we’ve all fallen back in love with. Yes, classic ballet flats in black or red are still perfect for spring. But I’m equally interested in pairs that feel bold, playful, and anything but basic. Think silk finishes, lime green or butter yellow hues, leopard print, metallics, and embroidered details. A cool pair of ballet flats can instantly elevate your outfit, proving that comfort and creativity can—and should—coexist.
