Spring Is the Ultimate Outfit Season

Spring is the most versatile season in your closet.

POSTED BY GRETCHEN DEUTSCH

I’d have to say spring is my all-time favorite fashion season. The moment the weather starts to warm, I become Miss Rhode Island from Miss Congeniality, earnestly describing my “perfect date”: “April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.” I know it’s meant to be sweetly naive, but that line captures exactly how I romanticize spring– the perfect temperature and the perfect outfit.

I love that spring exists as a happy medium, where I neither have to be bundled up for the cold nor practically naked to avoid heat stroke. So when dressing for “not too hot, not too cold” weather, I can finally hit the sweet spot of fashion.

In the spring, anything goes. It’s the magic season where a bomber jacket can be worn with micro shorts, a slip dress can meet a structured blazer, and sandals make sense with long sleeves. We’re free to go bare-legged in a skirt with the safety of a sweater. Plus, a light trench can be thrown over just about anything, and suddenly the whole outfit feels intentional. There’s something refreshing about how unpredictable it all is. Weather where contradiction feels intentional and the rules loosen just enough to make getting dressed fun again is definitely my kind of season.

Coming out of the cold, we’re no longer layering for necessity; we’re doing it for the good of the outfit. Spring is the only season where almost every piece in our closets still makes sense. While I used to find myself changing multiple times a day to adapt to the weather’s lows and highs, spring layers have saved me from having too many clothes on laundry day.

Spring dressing is all about those perfectly balanced layers — pieces you can add, remove, and style however the day unfolds. Check out my FizzyPicks below for the light jackets, easy layers, and go-with-everything staples that make spring outfits feel effortlessly put together.
