"She made everyone feel so special."

The Miami-based duo Bassisde, comprised of Linda Attias (aka Que Linda) and Carolina Villalba (aka Caro Loca), announced the release of their EP this April. The material will include the music produced by SOPHIE, who recently passed away in tragic circumstances. It is a result of Basside’s meeting with the iconic producer in 2016. The songs like ‘My Best Friend Too’ and ‘Fuck It Up’ are already known from SOPHIE’s DJ sets and Bassides’s live gigs; however, until now, there were no official releases of either of them.

Linda Attias puts the blame on the miscommunication with management. She recalls another meeting with SOPHIE in 2019 when the music icon said, ‘Oh, I made those for you. You could have released them the next day, and I wouldn't have cared.’

The recently released remix of Basside’s track ‘NYC2MIA’ lifts the veil of the upcoming EP. It was the first song the duo worked on with SOPHIE. In an Instagram statement, they admitted that they waited ‘too long’ to let the song out. Basside announced that all profits from the track will be donated to The Sylvia Rivera Law Project, a collective dedicated to freedom of gender identity – a concept close to SOPHIE’s heart.

The other release featuring the late producer is set to come out in March. A collaboration between SOPHIE and Jlin, an electronic musician from Indiana, will be a part of a new album for the rescheduled Unsound Festival.
