PSA: Red Bull Music Festival Announcement

The 20th anniversary special festival hitting the globe.

Anniversaries always mean big parties, loud music and special guests. That is exactly what Red Bull is about deliver this September - October with the Red Bull Music Festival, a special edition to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Red Bull Music Academy. 

61 musicians are about to erupt at Berlin’s Funkhaus the historic studio complex on the east side of the city. Artist jam sessions, encouraging new artist collaborations, a paramount of musical energy and artist lectures. 

Back in ‘98 Jeff Mills became the first to claim residence on the couch at Friederichshainer Hinterhaus, launching off a platform for over 800 artists to give their insightful lectures to inspiring the next generation musician. The lectures that ensued have become a tool of cultural, creative and musical connection between Berlin and Detroit. This September Jeff Mills unites with iconic drummer Tony Allen in Hall 1, while lyrical rap genius Pusha T and female bad ass all rounder Janelle Monáe will grace the couch with their hustle stories. 

Berlin is Techno and Techno S3kt0r Ufo is Berlin at the Shedhalle of the Funkhaus. Joined by the likes of Nina Kraviz and Matthew Jonson. United States of Bass is a nation of low frequency powerfulness of Artists such as D Double E from the UK and Nídia from Portugal culturally juxtaposed with a celebration of Afro- rhythmic celebration of the African Diaspora with the likes of Titica from Angola. 

In partnership with MONOM’s 4D sound system, Oneohtrix Point Never and Jlin will premier their new experimental sounds to the public at Symphonic Sound System. The acts are numerous, the locations an imaginative reconstruction of Berlin’s run down and abandoned buildings. The festival program has been announced, get those days of work, and immerse yourself in the musical energy that’s about to hit Berlin.
