It’s another example of the Sims team acknowledging the modding community.

The Sims 4 is the best-selling game in the entire Sims series. One thing that makes the most recent entry stand out from its predecessors is the Sims 4 team’s acknowledgment of and collaboration with the simming community.

From enlisting Sims YouTubers and builders to craft lots for new packs to adding clothing and makeup made by modders in free updates, it’s clear that they appreciate the value passionate players add to the game.

The Sims 4’s newest type of DLC, Kits, has been another way in which they share the game with standout creators. The Urban Homage Kit, made in collaboration with CC creator Ebonix, is a love letter to streetwear styles the creator wished to see in the game officially. The bamboo earrings, kente cloth shirt, and African print patterned head wrap are just a few examples of the rich and diverse styles Ebonix adds to the game in this Kit.

Ebonix, also known as Danielle, champions diversity for the black community in the Sims 4. Since 2015, she has made custom content for the Sims 4, mainly various braid and loc hairstyles that represent the styles and fashions prominent in the African-American community. These pieces of free content help black simmers better represent themselves in the game.

This is not Ebonix’s first foray in working officially with The Sims. She consulted with the Sims 4 team on their skin tone update in late 2020 to give players a wider variety of more customizable skin tones to use in the game. She also helped update 3 base game black hairstyles to improve them aesthetically.

With a tagline like ‘Play with Life,’ it’s key that the Sims gives players plenty of options to play with. Modders and CC creators have enhanced the game for players around the world, so the official acknowledgment of their efforts has been a welcome show of support for the community by the Sims 4 team.
