Saint Laurent Returns to the Paris Runway with FW23 Menswear
Exploring the intersection of masculinity and femininity.
Anthony Vacarello of Saint Laurent showcased his first menswear collection for Paris Fashion Week. Set at the rotunda of the Bourse de Commerce, a trading floor turned contemporary art museum, the Fall/Winter 2023 collection blurred the boundaries between menswear and womenswear with elegance and sophistication. Key elements included long coats, dramatic blouses with large bows, and an abundance of black. The neutral palette, luxurious materials, and tailored pieces created a look of timeless glamor.
Vacarello’s menswear collection takes inspiration from earlier womenswear pieces, with some being taken directly from the most recent collection. The goal was putting men and women on the same level, eliminating their differences by taking ideas from the womenswear collection for the men and reinterpreting them in their own way.
