Sacai x Nike VaporWaffle Set “Sail”
The collab is thought to be dropping anchor this spring.
Icon of sneaker stardom and JPG couture, Chitose Abe, is setting “sail” with a new Nike collab. Initially leaked back in February, more pics have been released of the sacai x VaporWaffle spring fling and it’s a good ‘un.
In typical sacai x VaporWaffle fashion, the maximalist soles of the sneakers are its stand-out feature. Split off-white heels at the stern of the shoe, and the beige gripped base give height and traction to the sneakers of our sailing dreams. The bow of the sneaker is decorated with an off-white Nike Swoosh and heel cages make for a practical addition to the multi-terrain shoes.
It’s clear Nike really pushed the boat out for the sacai x VaporWaffle collab with its use of multiple textures. Uppers made from white nylon juxtapose with tan suede eyestays and mudguards. Double stitch detailing and double tongue tags reinforce the pragmatism of the sneaker—it’s made for the deck or the city.
The shoe ships all basic white sneakers out to sea as the off-white color palette adds yet more dynamism to the streamlined sneaker. White, cream, gray and beige paneling make-up the colorways and the orange tongue Nike swoosh is vibrant against the neutral backdrop.
As Nike sets “Sail” with the off-white colorway, there is talk that two more colorways are dropping anchor soon—“Dark Iris” and “Black/Gum”.
Whilst no official release date has been set, @repgod888 has hinted it will be ready Spring 2021 so it should be hoisting its mast any time about now… When it does, be sure to charge full steam ahead, drop anchor, and cop the water-y drop.
