Rethinking The Everyday Sneaker

Finding the right fit.

Sneakers are normally my go-to, but lately, it feels like they ruin every outfit I try on. I’ll put on my perfectly curated jeans and sweater, but, more often than not, when my shoes go on, I look like I have no fashion sense at all.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the two pairs of dress sneakers I own, but when your shoes aren’t the right fit, you just know; it’s time that I up my shoe game and stop letting my sneakers sabotage my look. I would never think to abandon the convenience of the sneaker, but rather, I need to find one that complements my outfit and makes it look polished.

My personal problem is that my 5-foot-3-inch self looks even shorter when impaired by my short-soled sneakers. Or, when I’m feeling taller than usual, it’s because my shoes are too bulky.

Turns out, the shoe doesn’t just have to fit your foot; it has to fit your entire body. I want my sneakers to fit like a glove, slimming my feet but also adding a little height. Who knew choosing shoes could feel like rocket science?

Thankfully, with the right pair of sneakers, I’ll have a shoe to last me years. Finding the perfect sneakers isn’t just about comfort. It’s about finding the ones that make your legs look longer, your outfit look sharper, and your mood a little brighter. A touch of leather, a pop of metallic, or even just the right silhouette can turn “I threw this on” into “I meant to look this good.”
