Raf Simons’ Latest Adidas Collection Complete With Mirrored Soles Has Been Revealed

And we are soled.

POSTED BY EMMA COOK

Raf Simons, the once Creative Director at Dior, has witnessed continued success since his departure from the luxury house. But, perhaps nowhere more so than in his work with Adidas. His shoe designs for the Three Stripes brand have even generated their own cult fandom thanks to his playful experimentation with color and signature bulky silhouettes.

Simons continues to collab with the brand, releasing reinvented and reimagined models, which never fail to please the crowd. But it’s the Ozweego design which has reigned supreme as the most popular model amongst customers, after being reintroduced by Simons back in 2013. So, all those Ozweego-lovers out there will be happy to hear that a new model of the much-loved design is set to arrive next week.

The upcoming capsule range features a visual contrast which is hard to resist. This juxtaposition is created by the sensible monochrome of the shoe’s upper which is met by an extravagant mirrored finish. It’s this bold look which allows the shoe to be seen as a reflection of the collaboration itself; the contrast in the trainer’s design an iteration of the unlikely work between the former Dior boss’ and the infamous sporting brand.

For this collection, Simons has also reportedly drawn inspiration from the glam rock of the 1970s. This is evident in the sneaker’s contrasting design which attempts to (and succeeds in) reflecting the converse sides of the glam rock movement.

The collection includes a total of six shades to choose from; starting with the monochromatic white, gray and black before straying into the more daring blue, red and pink. Whichever color you’re going to go for, you can grab them over on adidas.com as well as at a handful of selected retailers from May 23rd.
