Public Fibre Are Urging You To Buy More Rubbish
The proceeds from the anti-Black Friday initiative will be going towards The Ocean Cleanup.
This Black Friday, sustainable fashion brand Public Fibre launched a crusade to highlight the amount of waste produced from the world-wide shopping event.
Their “Buy More Rubbish” campaign encourages consumers to instead donate their money to The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit that develops technology to remove plastic from the world’s oceans.
On Black Friday, Public Fibre launched their campaign by offering trash for sale on their website, including aluminium cans, plastic bottles, face masks, and single-use straws. The products are cleverly shot in the style of a fashion editorial, to draw consumers to the initiative. Prices start from just £0.25 ($0.33).
But don’t be fooled- Public Fibre won’t actually send you the trash.
If you “purchase” any of the products for sale under the Buy More Rubbish initiative, 100% of the proceeds go to The Ocean Cleanup. So “buying” that £25.00 ($33.27) glass bottle will help to rid our oceans of trash.
We love this initiative and all it represents. Let’s hope that it encourages shoppers to think twice about the sustainability of their purchases from Black Friday and beyond.
