Pretty In Punk: Blumarine Pre-Fall 23 Is Redefining Femininity

An unapologetic love letter to punk femininity everywhere.

POSTED BY AIDAN PATRICK

Blumarine’s Pre-Fall 2023 collection is here, and it’s a huge invitation to embrace individuality and express your inner self. The creative director of Blumarine, Nicola Brogano, is encouraging the Blumarine woman to turn her back on convention and walk in her own way. The gender norms forced on society by the patriarchy are DISMISSED by this collection, embracing darker, colder tones and hues. These, combined with the midi-skirts, floor-length wide-leg trousers, and the gladiator sandals boasted by this collection, Blumarine is unabashedly entering the sultry yet unapologetic punk rock space.

Look 14 of the collection uses different shades of blue to create a light and dark contrast within. A dark, longline coat in deep blue with feather details encompasses the whole look. The wide-leg trousers with patch details are in a lighter shade of blue but continue the light and shade contrast throughout. A cross necklace that appears to resemble rosary beads keep the light and dark contrast alive in a symbolic way which keeps the punk rock air of the collection alive.

Look 23 of the collection features an asymmetrical top with a ringlet shoulder strap detail and a matching belt. This look embraces the figure of the person wearing it while also giving a gothic edge in the dark colors. The sultry yet silently confident energy of this look encapsulates the unapologetic air and the punk rock space that this collection inhabits.

This collection encourages you to leave behind everything you know about trends and fashion, just as it does with traditional ideas of femininity. From sexy, silky slip dresses that allow femininity to express in a unique way or cargo pants and ruffled denim trousers that disregard traditionally ‘feminine’ silhouettes, this collection is punk in its opposition of the mainstream.
