Prada is set to make a significant impact on space exploration with the unveiling of the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) spacesuit. This innovative design was introduced during the Astronautical Congress in Milan and will be worn by astronauts for NASA’s upcoming Artemis III mission, scheduled to launch “no earlier than” September 2026.

Artemis III is poised to be a groundbreaking event, marking humanity’s return to the Moon for the first time since 1972—a remarkable gap of over five decades. The partnership between Prada and Axiom Space has redefined spacesuit development, creating a new standard for cross-industry collaboration in commercial space endeavors.

The AxEMU features several essential elements tailored for the lunar environment, including enhanced flexibility, specialized tools, and the ability to withstand extreme cold for at least two hours. It also supports eight-hour spacewalks, with advanced coatings on the helmet and visor ensuring that astronauts maintain optimal visibility during their missions.

As the suit nears its final development stage, additional testing is planned ahead of a design review next year.

The significance of Artemis III extends beyond merely returning humans to the Moon. The mission is set to land the first woman and first person of color on the lunar surface, representing a monumental step forward in space exploration. The mission will involve a crew of four, embarking on a journey expected to last approximately 30 days. NASA has characterized this mission as one of the most complex engineering feats in the history of deep space exploration, coinciding with exciting advancements in the realm of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), formerly known as UFOs.

As Prada's stylish design merges with Axiom Space’s pioneering vision, the AxEMU promises to be a landmark achievement in both fashion and space exploration.
