Electro-Pop Is Back, Baby!

The comeback of electro-pop and which artists we can thank for it.

POSTED BY VALENTINA HENRIQUES

Over the past few years, there has been a major comeback for electro-pop, led by artists such as Slayyyter, Ayesha Erotica and Charli XCX. A vibrant genre, with electrifying beats, glitchy synths and bold lyricism, is reinvigorating the music scene and catching the attention of a new generation thirsty for something fresh and fun.

Slayyyter's playful and nostalgic take on this genre has been captivating audiences with her hyper-edgy visuals and addictive hooks, touching on topics such as self-expression and escapism. Her visual appeal is reminiscent of a more simplified era, always recalling imagery dating back to the early 2000s and to characteristic “bubblegum pop”.

Another artist: Ayesha Erotica, who is well known for her sexual lyrics and electric stage presence. She consistently pushes beyond boundaries in expressing her sexuality through her music while challenging the social norms that society dictates. By doing so, she is creating a safe haven in which the new generation can freely express themselves.

We cannot forget one of the pioneers of electro-pop in the past decade: Charli XCX,  who continues to evolve and experiment with her sound. Collaborating with a wide range of artists and taking pop music into areas not previously explored.

These artists and the rising wave of like-minded electro-pop stars have placed pop music back into the spotlight, serving as a reminder of its potential to shift between fun and poignancy while providing a space for self-expression and social commentary.

Their music is a vivid celebration of individuality, delivering a sense of playful freedom that speaks volumes to a generation craving authentic and unfiltered art. Their infectious raw energy and cutting-edge sound set the stage for a fresh era of pop music, one both nostalgic and forward-thinking, which lays foundations for the future, where electro-pop will dominate overall popularity once again.
