'Cloud Dancer' Is The 2026 Color Of The Year
And no, it's not just white.
When Pantone announced that the Color of the Year would be 'Cloud Dancer,' I had mixed feelings. My first thought was: so, just white?
I am a big fan of wearing white, so this seemed like good news for me. There's a common perception that black is the most wearable color and suits everyone, and as much as I love it, I feel like I actually gravitate more toward white. In a white sundress, I feel cute, summery, and angelic.
However, I couldn't help but wonder what this meant for style in 2026. White never really goes out of style, but will this mean clothing becomes more corporate, clean, and minimalist? Many people love this look, but it feels a far cry from my girlier visions of lace and sundresses.
I came to realize that the shade is actually more of a pale gray, which at least spices things up a bit. The dress I've been working on as a craft project is this exact color, and I've added lace, bows—you name it. I think this was the reminder I needed that white and off-white shades are known for their versatility and can be every bit as girly and fun as the clean girl aesthetic.
