Your 2023 Oscars Recap
Everything, Everywhere All At Once scored big this Oscar’s night.
“Hollywood’s Biggest Night” saw the stars walk the notably not red, but “champagne” colored carpet last night for 2023’s annual Academy Awards. While last year’s awards generated heaps of controversy following Will Smith’s infamous “Oscars’ slap,” host Jimmy Kimmel saw to a tame and subdued evening this time around. Actors and actresses across Hollywood land gathered to celebrate the biggest achievements in film, rounding off the 2023 awards season.

Everything, Everywhere All At Once was undoubtedly the star of the show this Oscars night. The Daniels sci-fi adventure has been sweeping the awards trail, with stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis winning their categories. Lauded for its inventive premise and touching familial core, the A24 film won the coveted “Best Picture” prize. In addition, the Whale’s Brandon Fraser celebrated his comeback to the big screen, winning “Best Actor” for his acclaimed performance in the play adaptation. The international films nominated also took home many awards, with Germany’s All Quiet on the Western Front collecting four Oscars and RRR from India winning “Best Original Song.”
The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles hosted a star-studded lineup of musical performances. Lady Gaga went casual this year, singing her nominated song “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick in a t-shirt, but made up for the relaxed wardrobe with a powerful vocal performance. Rihanna continued her performance streak coming off her Super Bowl show with a rendition of Black Panther’s “Lift Me Up.” The singer showed off her baby bump in a sheer black dress sparkling with silver crystals, giving “Old Hollywood” glamor with black satin gloves.
