ORA's "Life Witness": A Sibling Anthem With A Disco Twist
Family bonds and childhood memories
Sibling duo ORA is kicking off 2025 in the best way possible—by celebrating their unbreakable bond with a brand-new single, Life Witness. Blending R&B-tinged indie pop with a sprinkle of disco nostalgia, this track is an infectious ode to family, childhood memories, and the kind of connection that never fades. And yes, even Nile Rodgers gave them his stamp of approval.
At just 22 and 23, Lea and Samuel have been making waves with their fresh, soulful sound. But beyond the music, their story is just as compelling. “We wanted to write a song about our relationship—being brother and sister and going through life together, for better or worse,” says Samuel. “We may be very different people, but we’ve always been each other’s life witnesses.”
While Life Witness is deeply personal, it also comes with a fun twist—one that happened completely by accident. As they worked on the song, Samuel randomly burst into Sister Sledge’s legendary disco anthem, We Are Family. Instead of just laughing it off, Lea knew they had to run with it. So, in a full-circle moment, they reached out to Nile Rodgers himself to get his blessing to use those iconic words in their track. And like the legend he is, he said yes.
The result? A feel-good, groove-heavy track that brings together family ties, nostalgia, and effortless cool. ORA has already been turning heads internationally, with their previous hits Bad Day and Space Rock getting love from Ones To Watch, tmrw magazine, and Danish national radio P3. And with Life Witness dropping on January 31st, this sibling duo is just getting started.
Time to hit play and dance like it’s 1979 and 2025 all at once.
