Olivia Miles Just Joined Adidas
Signature shoe could be next.
Olivia Miles has been wearing adidas on the court for months. Now the brand has finally admitted what everyone was already looking at.
Fresh off a unanimous WNBA Rookie of the Year season with the Minnesota Lynx, Miles has officially joined the adidas Basketball family. And while there is no signature shoe yet, I have a feeling that particular conversation is going to get very loud very quickly.
The Rookie Just Had a Slightly Ridiculous Season
Miles entered the WNBA as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 draft and promptly spent the season rewriting rookie records.
She averaged 19.8 points, 6.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game, while becoming an All-Star starter and sweeping all four Rookie of the Month awards during the regular season. Most importantly, she finished the year with 790 points, breaking Caitlin Clark's previous WNBA rookie scoring record of 769.
Then she won Rookie of the Year unanimously, receiving all 74 votes from the league's national panel.
So, yes. Adidas picked a rather interesting moment to make the relationship official.
She Was Already Wearing the Three Stripes
The funniest part is that this wasn't exactly a surprise.
Miles had been wearing an understated pair of adidas basketball shoes throughout the season, even though neither side had announced a formal partnership. She also wore adidas' Crazy Energy during the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, alongside players including Kelsey Plum and Aliyah Boston.
The Crazy Energy launched in July with a $110 price tag, using full-length Lightstrike cushioning and a traction setup designed for quick cuts, drives and changes of direction.
So adidas wasn't exactly meeting Miles for the first time. The brand had already been putting its shoes on one of the league's most exciting new players.
Now She's Joining a Pretty Serious Roster
Miles isn't walking into an empty locker room.
Her new adidas teammates include WNBA veterans Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray and Kelsey Plum, giving the brand a roster that mixes established stars with the next generation of women's basketball.
That's where Miles feels particularly useful.
She's young enough to bring an entirely new audience to the brand, but she's already accomplished enough in one professional season that adidas doesn't have to sell her as some mysterious “one to watch.” She just broke a major WNBA record and took home the league's top rookie award.
Okay, But What About the Signature Shoe?
Here is where we need to pump the brakes slightly.
Hypebae's announcement has us thinking about what a future Miles signature shoe could look like, but adidas has not announced one as part of this partnership.
And honestly, that's probably what makes this more interesting.
Signature shoes don't just appear because an athlete had one great season. The relationship has to grow. The athlete's game, personality, visual identity and relationship with the brand all have to become recognizable enough to build a product around.
Miles has already supplied the basketball résumé.
Now comes the fun part.
Adidas Is Betting on the Next Generation
Miles said she was excited to join adidas because she had watched the company invest in women's basketball and believed the brand understood that the future of the sport was about giving the next generation more room to be themselves.
That sentiment lines up neatly with where adidas Basketball is going. The brand has been expanding its women's roster while developing footwear specifically around the modern game and the athletes playing it.
Miles is exactly the kind of player who makes that strategy feel tangible rather than corporate.
I'm Already Wondering What Her Shoe Would Look Like
There isn't an Olivia Miles signature shoe to buy right now.
But there is something fun about watching the relationship start before the product exists.
Maybe her future shoe ends up being low-profile and ridiculously fast. Maybe it gets some completely unhinged colorway. Maybe Miles has a very specific idea of what she wants from a shoe and turns the whole thing into something nobody expected.
For now, she's an adidas athlete with a Rookie of the Year trophy, a broken scoring record and an entire career ahead of her.
