Nordstrom's New Collection "Concept 018: Virgil Abloh Securities" Commemorates The Late Icon
The collection dropped 8 months after the designer's passing.
Last week, Nordstrom announced that it will be partnering with the estate of the late designer and creative force Virgil Abloh for their New Concepts pop-up series. The capsule collection is titled Concept 018: Virgil Abloh Securities and is meant to honor the revered designer and his expansive contributions to fashion, design, architecture, and popular culture.
The pieces from the collection are co-created with Abloh’s fashion label Off-White and reference his creative studio Alaska Alaska, as well as including merchandise from the late designer’s Figures of Speech installation that is currently set up at the Brooklyn Museum. The first launch, which is currently available at the Nordstrom website and in select physical stores, also features men’s and women’s apparel, footwear and accessories.
The second launch is set for a mid-September release, and will feature additional collaborations with other design houses that nod to the life and career of Virgil.
This is just one of many ways in which the legacy of the late designer is being kept alive. On top of this capsule collection and his exhibition in Brooklyn, an artistic statue of the design icon was set up in Miami shortly after his passing back in November of 2021.
Abloh was known for always pushing the boundaries within the fashion world and championing human potential, and it seems as though his legacy is being kept alive and will live on for many decades to come. Find more at Nordstrom.com.
