Nike Look Back For Their 2020 Chinese New Year Collection

Incorporating past “Year of the Rat“ designs.

POSTED BY GILEASA EBRAHIM

Many brands are beginning to debut their Chinese New Year collections celebrating the Year Of The Rat on the Zodiac calendar. Nike has now showcased their collection. With a selection of sneakers and apparel being released from both the Nike and Jordan brand, there are definitely pieces from the collection worth grabbing.

The collection incorporates designs the the previous four Year of the Rat cycles with embossed detailing and printed graphics. The patterns are similar to those produced in traditional Yuxian paper-cutting, a nod to the long history of the swoosh and jumpman in China.

Featuring the Air Max 1 in a dramatic colorway and the Air Force 1 with an upper embossed with patterns. For women, the collection cover a metallic and red Air Max 90, Air Max 270 React in sunset hues as well as the Air Force 1 Shadow and a new Joyride Run 2. Additionally two bright colorways of the Kyrie 6. From Jordan brand, the Air Jordan 13 and Air Jordan 34 both feature traditional Chinese coin inspired patterns.

As well as the sneaker offerings, the collection features a range of apparel – t-shirts, hoodies and more. The collection will be rolled out across January at select retailers and nike.com.
