Nike Running Nike Fast Lab Event Recap
Step inside the lab with us.
Over two days and countless mind blowing show casings, Fizzy Mag was invited to the exclusive Nike Running’s Nike Fast Lab event. A neon futuristic lab exhibiting the motional science behind the development of the Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo Berlin. It is like walking into a training locker room, the passionate red neon flickering up behind you. A display of Nike Running Sneakers in the midst of it all. Sneakers positioned in a running motion down a neon illuminated track, with track times printed in digital fonts on a transparent back drop. This was not just any launch. It was more of a date in the minds of the Nike Lab and Athletes. It was an exhibition of tools, sneakers and apparel, that shape the training of the athletes.
The launch, inline with the European Athletics Championships, is not just for the competitive athlete, it is for any runner with a passion to succeed and goals to smash. The second day of the event was a revelation of the deeper cultural and societal roots that Nike is sewing. Running and training is not a weight loss venture nor is it just for athletes, it is a community of togetherness celebrating the diversity that intricately amalgamates to create a family. It is a marriage of innovative technology and passion.
Filmmaker Ian Derry spoke to the audience about the quest for speed, the ‘training your whole life for a few centimeters’. He delved behind the scenes of athletes that Nike Celebrates to capture their story in preparation for the European Athletics Championships held in Berlin. ‘Berlin has a vibe’ he states at the event hosted by English long-distance runner Paula Radcliffe, ‘I only wanted to include hints of Berlin’. The filmmaker captured 1500/5000 meters runner Konstanze Klosterhalfen, 100 meters specialist Reece Prescod and 200 meters Champion Dafne Schippers; in the Berlin backdrops of Tempelhof Airport and the Messedamm metro station.
Panel discussions and Q&A’s with running crews Track Mafia, Patta, Berlin Braves and Kraft Runner; perfectly closed the event.
